Forging Ahead!
Independent Forgings and Alloys Ltd has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2008 in the international trade category. The award for export growth recognises IFA and its workforce as one of an elite group of companies.
The company is currently investing in increased press forging capacity , with new larger furnacing and greatly increasing ring rolling capabilities with a new ring roller capable of shaped rolled casings up to 94” dia and up to 30” deep.
“ IFA has now invested £16 million in new and refurbished mechanical plant and strategic nickel alloy and titanium stocks in eight years of trading, and now has the most comprehensive suite of open die forging, ring rolling and bar production equipment single site operation in Europe,” stated group chairman and CEO Mr Martin Burnham.
IFA managing director Mr Andy McGuinness added “ This underscores IFA’s commitment to the Advanced Engineering and Manufacturing ( AEM ) cluster in the UK, and particularly our service of the Aerospace Defence and IGT market sectors”.
